Get ready to witness one of the most remarkable musicals of recent times – Marsha Norman’s unlikely onstage adaption of Alice Walker’s 1982 novel “The Color Purple,” telling the sometimes uplifting, often harrowing tale of Celie, an African-American woman in the mid-20th century American South. The winner of multiple awards, the newest incarnation of the musical is a bare-bones version of the original that gets right into the heart of the story. Don’t miss out on this truly unique work of musical theatre – select your show from the list below and book your tickets early to guarantee a good seat.

– New York Times
The original The Color Purple musical ran on Broadway 2005 to 2008. It was critically acclaimed at the time, going on to earn no less than eleven Tony Award nominations in 2006, but the 2015 Broadway revival truly gave the musical new life (and earned it a further two Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical).

-Vulture
Scottish director John Doyle is responsible for the musical’s transformation. Having made a name for himself by re-creating works by others with a minimalist, bare essentials approach, including Stephen Sondheim’s “Company,” and “Sweeney Todd,” he went on to work his magic on the originally over-the-top production of The Color Purple.

-The Hollywood Reporter
Such a change could not have suited this story more – Celie’s tale is tragic and brutal, and the positive elements run the risk of being sentimentalised. Bringing such a tale to life in the form of a musical is no mean feat, but new The Color Purple musical does just that – delivering exactly the right amount of grit and heart alike, without romanticising the darker aspects of the story.
The result is an incredibly powerful production that will stay with you long after you leave the theatre. If there’s one musical that will change your definition of the genre, it’s this one – don’t miss it!

Upon reading “Alexander Hamilton”, the 2004 biography by historian Ron Chernow, Lin-Manuel Miranda, producer of “Cats”, “Les Miserables” and “Phantom of The Opera”, saw many parallels between the struggle of Hamilton, a poor orphan who fought his way in life in New York, and the narrative of much of modern rap. Searching the idea and finding it had not been done, he set about creating Hamilton – the telling of the story of American History, using contemporary music to resonate with modern audiences more profoundly than any narrative ever has done before.

– The Telegraph
Unsurprisingly, Hamilton was a box office smash hit, and has gone on to become a global sensation on merit of it’s soundtrack alone. As a sung-through musical, the full soundtrack is certainly enough to get the gist of the play. For many, it is also enough to inspire fervent devotion; many of Hamilton’s biggest fans haven’t seen it!! With wave after wave of media hype, one reviewer famously telling readers to “mortgage their houses and lease their children” in order to acquire tickets, Hamilton has gone on to become the most in-demand musical in the world!!

– The Guardian
From its unusual choice of musical styles, eschewing traditional musical theatre in favour of rap, hip-hop and R&B, to its unusually and poignantly racially diverse cast, to its dynamic story, bringing the history of the American Revolution to life in a way never seen before, Hamilton is truly a revolution in and of itself. Don’t miss your chance to see what the fuss is all about – get tickets while they last!!

– The Guardian
With its hugely likeable, if misguided, main characters, the Book of Mormon does much, much more than simply denounce and mock religion – it explores the concept in quite some depth, fully recognising the humanity and intents of its main characters as they go about their well-intentioned mission to convert Ugandans (who are more concerned with problems such as famine and AIDS). Bold, outrageous, and riotously funny, The Book of Mormon has gained the level of hype if has for its undeniable warmth and profound observations on the state of humanity that are never lost on the audience.
– Evening Standard
That and, of course, the songs! Written by the genius that is Robert Lopez, who would later go on to work on they hit Disney film “Frozen,” which found its songs on rotation on mainstream radio, the numbers from The Book of Mormon are fun and insanely catchy. Although the two initially have reservations towards each other, over time their feelings change, and an unexpected romance develops.
– The Independent
